Will lockdown No.2 spell the end for many Showmen?

With the government set to implement a second lockdown from 00:01 this Thursday [Nov 5] and everything non-essential being closed down Showmen Times look at what effect this will have on the industry.

2020 must one of the worst years on record for travelling show people, if not the worst? Many haven’t been able to open in 2020 at all and others have had little or no business.

This new LOCKDOWN will pile further pressure on an industry already reeling from the devastating consequences of the pandemic and the restrictions, coupled with very little financial support from government and local authorities.

Action needs to be taken now to prevent a large part of the industry being wiped out for good, families who have been showmen for generations left with nothing.

Showmen Times will Support showmen as an added voice for Funfairs, Circuses and Outdoor Events and welcome news pieces and updates from all sections of the Guild [Showmen’s Guild of Great Britain] plus individual operators on this ongoing dire situation that the industry finds its self in through no fault of its own.
